Topic : Enterprise Data Integration in the Cloud
With the accelerating trend of enterprise data and non-core services moving to the cloud, there is an increasing demand for cloud-based platforms that enable integration of cloud data with on-premise services.
At the same time, due to rapid evolution of services, as well as the shifting competitive landscape, there is a need to move away from complex hand-coded Java EE EJB-based solutions: too complex, too expensive and too cumbersome to develop.
We will show how snapLogic is addressing the problem, by deploying a cloud-based (currently targeted for Amazon AWS deployment) PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service), what technologies are we planning to use, and what evolution do we see in the expertise required for people in Silicon Valley (and beyond) to remain competitive in this massively changing technology landscape.
Marco is the Director Engineering at snapLogic, leading the team working on a cloud-based distributed enterprise integration platform. Prior to that, he has been Sr. Engineering Manager at Google leading teams in both the Engineering Tools and the Partners Solutions organizations, first in London, UK and subsequently in Mountain View, CA, responsible for the delivery and operation of massively scalable distributed systems for AdSense, YouTube and Mobile services, managing teams across EMEA, US and APAC.
He has a past as entrepreneur, having founded two companies in Cambridge, UK: Infinite Bandwidth, developing mobile location services, wireless applications and traffic information systems. As one of the co-founders and Managing Director of Tamarix Consulting he helped clients plan, design and deploy wireless networks and cellular services.
Before then, he was the Strategic Marketing Manager (EMEA) for Hewlett Packard's Wireless Semiconductor group, defining and implementing market strategies for their GSM/3G product offerings.
