Job Title: System Administrator

Position based in Fort Collins, CO (or Austin, TX, or Palo Alto)

HP is looking for a system administrator to provide key hardware and software infrastructure support for HP's virtualization management product software suite, Insight Software- including Insight Dynamics and Insight Orchestration. We are looking for a committed results-oriented player that is motivated to make a difference in a rapidly growing market.

Responsibilities:
  • Be part of a sys admin team supporting an entire R&D lab with a growing platform support matrix
  • End-to-end infrastructure setup, configuration & integration of components including enclosures, servers, network and storage.
  • Hands-on bring-up of new systems to support the expanding needs of the product; including prototype hardware and customized configurations
  • Setup, configure and maintain key test ring infrastructure to support product test efforts (upgrade, scalability, CHO, Acceptance tests).
  • Configure shared test systems including updating firmware, installing OS images and installation and configuration of customized system management solution stack (includes working with pre-released firmware & application software on emerging hardware platforms)
  • Test software stack component installation as part of setting up configurations and work with development teams to resolve issues; file defects and follow-up until closure of the issue.
  • Provide key support on test rings; troubleshoot issues, reproduce bugs. Install patches, workarounds to unblock development teams.
  • Support HP-UX, Linux and Windows and various virtualization platforms on HP and non-HP platforms
  • Interact with internal HP customers that are utilizing the test ring infrastructure
  • Identify opportunities to streamline test ring infrastructure, consolidate hardware into virtual machines to reduce operating costs and improve quality and processes in everyday tasks
  • Drive quality into the product at every phase of development.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent
  • Windows, HP-UX and Linux Admin Experience
  • Scripting experience (Shell, K-Shell, Bourne-Shell, Perl, etc.)
  • Firmware installation/configuration knowledge
  • Understanding of Networking infrastructure, DNS/DHCP, file servers, RDP, Cisco Ethernet switches a plus
  • Understanding of Storage, SAN infrastructures, Brocade FibreChannel and iSCSI SAN a plus
  • Firmware installation/configuration knowledge
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose and solve complex hardware, firmware and software stack compatibility problems
